Hillsong Nights Pt. 1

I'm still trying to figure out how I got the opportunity to be one of the photographers to capture this amazing event.

The fact that I was photographing Hillsong was something I kept underwraps for a very long time. A couple of people asked me why I kept it hidden for so long, and truthfully, the reason was bcause I was in shock the whole month leading up to the concert.

It didn't feel real.

Anyway, more on that later on. For now, please enjoy these images from one of the most memorable nights of my life.

It's kind of amazing how God works.

Over two years ago, I discovered that Hillsong had a church in NYC. Around that time, I had become inspired by the photos taken at the church and began dreaming about joining that church just so I could serve as a photographer.

Crazy dream, right?

Maybe not so crazy.

Earlier this year, I got the chance to photograph my church's women's conference, and the subject was dreams. Here's where it got interesting...

During the conference, every women in the room (including me, the young woman with the camera) was given a golden star to write down our dreams.

Every single dream that I wrote down had to do with my photography.

Now, on the star I wrote something along the lines of, "I want to photograph at Hillsong NYC," but of course, God could see what my heart was crying for me to really write. What I really wanted to write was, "I want to photograph Hillsong."

I think this is where God started to shake His head at me and laugh. As if He was saying, "Oh my daughter, if you only knew what I have planned for you."

Anyway, fast forward about six or seven months. My friend posted on his facebook that the coordinators for the Hillsong concert were looking for a photographer for the event.

Yeah, my heart stopped at that moment.

Before I could even comprehend what I had read, two or three people had commented my name as the photographer.

Cue the freak out.

To make the rest of the story short, my friend put me in contact with the volunteer coordinator, and before I really knew what was happening, she sent me an email saying, "See you the 29th!"

I was going to photograph Hillsong.

Anyway, back to the images.

I hope you guys enjoyed this first part of the images from the Hillsong concert.

I'll be dishing out the next round soon; so be on the look out for that.

To my friends, if you see an image of yourself that you'd like to have, please shoot me an email. I'd be happy to help you out.

Thanks guys. I couldn't do what I do without you all.
